With the emerging world of the cannabis plant and the potential capabilities of CBD and THC, it is easy to understand why researchers and consumers alike are searching for more applications of the plants’ many compounds, referred to as ‘cannabinoids,’ and one such example is a cannabinoid known as CBG. Not unlike CBD, CBG is a non-psychotropic compound that may be effective in relieving pain and decreasing inflammation throughout the body; however, other stand-out effects CBG could potentially offer include its antibacterial as well as neuroprotective properties. A key difference to consider when comparing these compounds is how they bind to our two unique endocannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2. These receptors exist within the body in many areas such as the central nervous system and the brain, in the form of our CB1 receptors, as well as our immune system, cardiovascular system, and many of our bodies’ organs, in the form of our CB2 receptors.
