What is CBG?
At this point anyone familiar with cannabis is aware of the two most popular cannabinoids found in the plant, THC and CBD. Some may not be aware of the many other cannabinoids found within the flower. One can not be blamed, as there are over 120 identified cannabinoids that are unique to cannabis! One of these lesser known cannabinoids is known as CBG or cannibigerol. CBG serves as the precursor compound that leads to the formation of many other cannabinoids including THC, CBD, and many more. It is sometimes referred to as the “mother” or “stem cell” cannabinoid. In most cannabis strains CBG is typically found in lower concentrations compared to CBD and THC, but early research suggests this minor cannabinoid may yield many possible medical and therapeutic benefits in higher concentrations.
With research being conducted every day, CBG's medicinal properties become more and more promising as we learn how this compound affects several problems and physiological systems. Cannabis farmers are optimizing their crop through cross-breeding plants and creating strains with higher concentrations of CBG in attempts to explore the full unclouded potential of this compound and its medicinal viability.
With what we know about cannabinoids including CBD and THC and how they can interact with our endocannabinoid system, the discovery of new cannabinoids and their medical benefits make for exciting discoveries. The ongoing research surrounding CBG is very promising with many studies backing the possible benefits CBG can provide for various conditions including chronic pain, glaucoma, and Crohns' disease, just to name a few. Naturally, we recommend everyone to consult with their doctor beforehand to see if CBG, as well as CBD and other cannabinoids, are right for you.
Tri-Healthy CBD invites all people who are interested in learning more about this unique cannabinoid and the potential it offers, to our store location at the Southern Park Mall on October 29th, 2020 for an informative seminar provided by two members of the Tri-Healthy team.
