The Monthly Chronic-les of Life
Chapter 5: Beachside Beauty and Girl Talk
September 11th: North Port, Florida
The sun was shining, the waves were gently rolling onto the shore, and the scent of saltwater filled the air—a perfect day for a girls' day at the beach. Christy Beachlover was already sprawled out on a lounge chair, soaking up the Florida sunshine, while her best friend, Lisa, was busy setting up a small beachside picnic.
“Can you believe how beautiful it is today?” Christy sighed, slipping on her oversized sunglasses. She reached for her can of Delta Light Hybrid Juicy Watermelon, enjoying the refreshing taste. “This is exactly what I needed.”
Lisa, always the life of the party, plopped down next to her with a grin. “You and me both, girl. I swear, since I switched from beer to these Cantrip D9 Root Beers, I’m starting to lose my beer gut. Can you see it? Tell me you see it.”
Christy laughed, sitting up to inspect her friend’s midsection. “You look amazing, Lisa. But honestly, you’ve always looked amazing. You’re just glowing more these days.”
Lisa flashed a grin, then her eyes dropped to Christy’s feet peeking out from under her beach towel. “Speaking of glowing… what’s up with those feet, Crusty Beachlover? You need to let those toes see the light of day more often!”
Christy burst out laughing, kicking sand in Lisa’s direction. “Hey! I’ve been busy saving the environment, not pampering my feet. But point taken—I’ll book a pedicure.”
“Just looking out for you, girl,” Lisa said, still chuckling. “Can’t have those crusty feet scaring off Paul when he gets here.”
“I’ll make sure they’re beach-ready by then,” Christy promised, shaking her head with a smile.
After the laughter died down, Christy reached into her beach bag and pulled out a small bottle of Steel Valley Hemp Full Spectrum Tincture Oil Vanilla 1000mg. She had started using it recently after Lisa recommended it as a way to unwind and add a little sweetness to her daily routine. The smooth, vanilla flavor had quickly become one of her favorites.
Lisa noticed and nodded approvingly. “I see you’ve finally taken my advice. How’s that tincture treating you?”
“Honestly? I love it,” Christy said, placing a few drops under her tongue and letting the soothing vanilla flavor melt away any lingering tension. “It’s been great for winding down, especially after a long day out on the water.”
Lisa smiled. “Told you. It’s like a little bit of dessert without the calories. And it’ll keep you in a good mood while you get ready for Paul’s visit.”
Christy couldn’t help but blush as she thought about Paul. “Yeah, I’m really looking forward to seeing him. We’ve been texting a lot, and it feels like something special is growing between us.”
Lisa leaned back, pretending to swoon. “You’re totally falling for him. Next thing you know, you’ll be moving to Ohio and wearing one of those big, puffy coats in the snow.”
Christy playfully nudged her friend. “Not happening. I’m a Florida girl through and through. Besides, we’re taking things slow. But… it’s nice to feel this way about someone.”
Lisa nodded, her expression softening. “I get it. It’s rare to find someone who really gets you. And if Paul makes you feel like this, then I say go for it.”
The two friends sat in comfortable silence for a while, sipping their drinks and listening to the waves. It was the kind of day that felt like it could stretch on forever—sunny, peaceful, and full of possibilities.
After a while, Christy broke the silence. “How’s work going for you? I know you’ve been busy with all the personal training sessions.”
Lisa grinned. “Oh, you know, just helping people hit their goals and tone their glutes. Tri-Healthy has been keeping me busy too, but I love it. And it gives me time to hang out with my favorite people.”
“That sounds perfect,” Christy said, admiring her friend’s balance of work and play. “You’ve really made a name for yourself.”
“Thanks,” Lisa said, leaning over to clink her root beer can against Christy’s. “But enough about me. Let’s talk about you. What are you going to wear when Paul gets here? You’ve got to look drop-dead gorgeous.”
Christy smiled, thinking of the simple but stylish sundress she’d picked out. “I’ve got a dress that I think he’ll like. Nothing too fancy, but it’s perfect for a beach date.”
“Perfect,” Lisa said with a wink. “And don’t forget to spritz a little perfume on. You want him to be completely captivated.”
“Like he’s walking into a Hallmark movie?” Christy teased.
“Exactly,” Lisa said with a laugh. “You’re living it, Christy. Own it.”
The day continued with more laughter, more girl talk, and the easy companionship that comes from years of friendship. As the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden light over the beach, the two women felt completely content.
Lisa stretched out, looking up at the sky. “You know, Christy, life doesn’t get much better than this—good friends, good drinks, and good love stories in the making.”
Christy nodded, her heart full. “You’re right. It really doesn’t.”
